The Guild

Our regular meeting on Monday 7th gave us food for thought when Revd Jeanette Whitecross from Kilwining Old had a new way of looking at a Bible Study.  She chose the parable of the Prodigal Son and we had to write down what we could remember about this passage.  She then read the passage and we had to note the things we had missed – there then followed a discussion about various aspects of the passage.  We were able to indulge ourselves again with the remainder of the birthday cake along with our cup of tea.

The Beetle Drive was as usual a noisy affair.  This year Chrissie was away from home and unable to be compere so she delegated the job to me – I am pleased to report that we had no rowdies in our midst this year!!  It is usually me getting everyone else excited!!  We had 48 attend and again we had guests from our local Guilds at Barony, St Andrews, St Cuthbert's and North Parish who helped swell the numbers.  The committee served a well deserved cup of tea and chocolate biscuits.  The winner was Margo Curtis and the booby prize went to Mattie Duff.

Our next meeting is an evening of Carols and Readings which will be held on Monday 5th December when Chrissie and Jennifer will lead this meeting.   We have to thank them both in advance very much for what is always a very lovely time of fellowship.  We enjoy mince pies to follow and a Santa parcel – a gift from one Guild friend to another.  A lovely way to finish our formal meetings for 2011.

To round off the year, we are booked to have dinner at the Waterside Inn, Seamill on Monday 12th December - a time to relax and enjoy a lovely Christmas meal with no washing up to do afterwards!!

By popular request we start the New Year with another Scottish Quiz Night – Monday 23th January at 7.30 p.m. when it is hoped that teams from all organisations in the church will compete in what we hope will be a fun night for all.  If you came along last year then you will know that it is not to be taken too seriously!!  If not coerced to be in a team please do still come along and support the brave ones who have volunteered!!  Supper will be served at half-time and a donation taken for Guild Funds.

On behalf of the Guild we wish you all a very happy and joyous Christmas.
We look forward now to 2012 and the start of the next Guild session.
